The fat on the abdomen is more dangerous than the fat on the shoulders, hips or thighs, warns doctors. Studies have shown that fat accumulation predominantly in the abdominal region represents a higher risk for cardiovascular disease, which is found in more than half of the population of Romania. Of these diseases, the most dangerous are myocardial infarction, stroke and ischemic attack.
Doctors say that the fat on the abdomen is very metabolically active and sits more easily on the vessels, narrowing them. In contrast, fat on the hips, thighs or shoulders is more inert and less dangerous. Specialists have observed that in people who are very fat in the region of the abdomen there is also a greater amount of cortisol in the blood. To get rid of this type of fat, the most important role is physical exercise.
