The child in the world of television and computers

The child in the world of television and computers

The toys of today are endlessly varied. Manufacturers use the latest achievements of electronics to entertain the "consumer" in a new, unique way.
Japanese children are crazy about a new electronic toy, the so-called "egg-clock", which, over time, if you "take care" properly, from "egg" must "come out" a "chicken", which in turn he needs care.
If all the operations are performed on time and correctly (feeding the toy, cleaning), the "chicken" will remind the owner of its existence. If the child forgets or makes a mistake, the "chicken" may become "sick" and even "die".
Here, as an artificial mechanism, devoid of life, it becomes as if it were an autonomous play partner of man, it has an immortal soul!
Isn't it also a symbol of childhood today, of alienation, of the loneliness of the child in the city, placed in the soulless world of cars and looking for a food and a friend in this world?
This toy replaced the dog or cat, which was never accepted in a Japanese family today.

Television has already entered the life of the contemporary child. Not having a TV in the house means being too different from the generally accepted norm.
Parents should try to reduce the child's contact with the TV to a minimum (to maintain physical health) and to make it strictly selective (to maintain soul health).
It has been observed that the children themselves prefer that instead of passively watching TV, they will deal with other interesting tasks that consume time and energy when they have such skills at hand.
Later, another task will pass - the judicious selection of TV shows. Are there no useful TV shows?
The programs of popularization of science, which deals with history, art, and the sciences of nature, not only do not harm the adolescent, but they also bring a certain benefit. The same can be said about some artistic films and, of course, the Orthodox religious shows that have appeared in recent years.
Wise parents know how to put the TV in the family's service. The visual image is the most vivid, the one that remains the easiest in memory. The visual language of film art penetrates into the child's soul.
In an educational article an interesting comparison is made between the old cartoon heroes and the current heroes: these are the ninja turtles and Ceburaska and his friends. If Ceburaska looks like a nice and naive child, the turtles are rather "tough guys" who, by ordering and restoring justice, "caftesc" to opponents on the right and left. They live and act in a completely different world, dark and terrible.
Today's children are watching cartoons that look like war movies. Vampires, monsters, hoops, visitors from the cosmos enter the "small screens" of our children's consciousness, which is often protected by nothing.
The child, unlike an adult, does not yet distinguish the artificial from reality. He reacts sincerely and violently to the theatrical - cartoon - cinematic image, not recognizing its conventional character.
Preschoolers and small schoolchildren live not one, but several lives: their own, and that of heroes in stories and cartoons. Thus, they tend towards a maximum experience of events.
A boy from Moscow loved cartoons. In a cartoon about the gummy bears, they could make fun and high jumps through trees on houses. At first, the boy jumped through the apartment: "I'm a teddy bear-gummy! I'm a teddy bear-gummy!" And here he was, once, with other children, on the roof of a block of sixteen floors. Suddenly, our boy passed through his head that he, like the bears in love, could jump on the neighboring roof. Some steps to the edge and ...

Super heroes, a model?

Developing children's imagination by showing them super heroes is a very dangerous thing. In addition to all the above, the small screen, in front of which today's families spend almost all their free time, does harm to the physical and mental health of the children. Specialists in psychiatry and child psychology assume that the main diseases of children in the 21st century will be caused by television and computers.
First, the kinescope produces an irradiation that leads to neuro-somatic disorders in the child's body. Following this irradiation, his nervous system is rapidly depleted.
Secondly, prolonged stay in front of the TV screen (as in front of the computer or even the book, if the child already knows how to read) leads to asthneonotronic disorders: due to sedentary disorder the functioning of the intestine is disrupted, the body eliminates defective products. catabolism (toxins from the body's metabolism), and children get sick frequently.
Mostly, the psycho-emotional disorders related to the informational action of the television on the child's body stand out.
Kids used to watching TV weaken their memory; they assimilate harder, they cannot concentrate at hours; suffers from insomnia; they become agitated, irritable, annoying. Relationships with parents are getting worse, especially if they ask them to break away from the TV.
Not only the child, but also the adult, who has a stronger and more resilient psychic, is incapable of opposing this action, even if he critically receives what he sees. Television encodes by various means, voluntarily or involuntarily, the behavior of the child or adolescent - it determines him to live according to the laws of the screen world.
Older people are experiencing a great deal of emotional tension following the events on the screen: truly living a foreign life. The child is even easier than the adult to plunge into the world of illusion; and since this life is much more interesting and richer in events than his own life, the daily life, he prefers the life of the imaginary.
The life of the TV, in which the child experiences such strong feelings, seems to him more true than the authentic one. Returning from the world of illusion, he sees his existence in gray and dull colors, and his neighbors seem insignificant.
Showing her violence even in the cartoons, depicting scenes of mischief, cruelty or life of pleasures, the television awakens in the child's heart the passions of anger, despair, envy, greed.
Action movies teach him to despise the weak, force him to adopt not only a certain way of life, but also an attitude towards people, naughty and devoid of embarrassment.
People have become psychologically dependent on television. If the TV suddenly breaks, it is a disaster: an unusual, frightening silence emerges and the fact that the family members are separated is soul-breaking. Therefore, for this eventuality, in each house there are two or three TVs: one is broken, we open another.
Viewers are gradually losing their individuality. According to the expression of some sociologist, thanks to television, a new anthropological type is formed, with a low intellectual and moral level.
Children are deeply attracted to television in families where adults suffer from this passion. In these families, the TV becomes the true master of the house, the supreme authority.

Regarding the computer, the same recommendations can be made as for the TV: the strict limitation of the time devoted to the use of the computer and a judicious attitude.
In the century when computers are even in the Orthodox monasteries, to keep the child in artificial isolation from them means to complicate for him the adult life that stands in front of him, his studies and, perhaps, his professional activity.
The computer itself is neither good nor bad. Good or bad can do the will of man - it depends on how we use this complex invention.
Nowadays, it seems that we cannot handle it without using the computer as a practical tool. And books are edited using computers - otherwise, editing work would be a few times slower.
It would be desirable for children to keep away from these "smart cars". Their damaging influence on human physical health does not suffer from doubt; the protective screens are not able to fully defend against the irradiation.
Doctors say that all "computerists" have a low level of leukocytes in the blood - being impaired the body's defense function, lowering disease resistance.
A Russian doctor has conducted a series of experiments using a therapeutic-diagnostic system based on the "Foil method" to elucidate how the surrounding objects influence the physical state of the human being.
He learned that the holy water and olive oil normalize the indicators of the diseased organs.
In the conditions of a prolonged "companionship" with the computer, immunity strongly decreases, leaving the body defenseless, especially in the face of oncological conditions and other "diseases of the century".
In addition to the injury due to bodily health, the computer can also harm the human soul - especially the child's.
The computer is not only a useful tool in the various branches of human activity; we can play with him. There is no need for playmates, companion-partner is the car, the computer ie: you play on it, in it and with it.
The specificity of computer game makes man not a passive spectator, but a person who actively intervenes. And he lives, acts, not in our world, but in another - illusory. And this world conforms to primitive and ruthless laws, to which the player is obliged to obey. He makes predetermined decisions by the programmer.
Games teach children to live by the laws of this demonic world, where they "defeat" the most powerful, the most cunning, the most ungrateful. The human personality ceases to mean anything in this world; she is perceived as a "potential adversary".
Certain games give players the opportunity to develop an unbelievable thirst for power to establish (in this illusory world) a new world order.
It is not surprising that even the most, apparently, harmless, of these games, destroy the unseen psychic, lead to nervous disorders.
Attempts by parents to snatch their son from the game often lead to terrible scandals, hysteria crises. Getting the kid off the TV is even easier: the movie has an ending. But computer game can continue to infinity: losing, you want to win; and gaining an even better result.
Parents are responsible for explaining to them with authority how things are: the computer is not a toy, but an instrument intended for useful activities, and it must serve good things, not the injury of man.
Complicated electronic games, especially those created on the principle of "hunting" or "fighting", so absorb adolescents, that they forget about everything in the world.
How can the child be helped to maintain their physical and mental health in today's technologized world?
The substance that stops the action of the poison or helps the body to fight it is called the antidote. How good would it be to give the child such an antidote to help him repel everything that is hurtful to the soul, and we can get rid of it!
Specialists in child psychology have long remarked that this is more emotional than logical; he remembers feelings, not facts.
Many events that happened a long time ago remain in our memory only because they were accompanied by a powerful movement of the soul: either we were shocked by something, or deeply hurt, or, on the contrary, we met understanding and love where not we were expecting.
And the good impressions received in the parental home, through communion with the parents, are a great treasure for us.
