The shelters for victims of domestic violence are closed

The National Coalition of NGOs involved in Programs on Violence against Women (VIF) has launched an alarm signal on the closure of more and more shelters for victims of domestic violence.

The National Coalition of NGOs involved in Programs on Violence against Women (VIF) has launched an alarm signal on the closure of more and more shelters for victims of domestic violence.
This situation resides in the fact that the central and local authorities do not understand to adequately support, according to Law 271/2003, the assistance of vulnerable social categories, as mentioned by VIF.
In this regard, direct reference is made to the statement of September 21 a.c. of the spokeswoman of the City Hall of Cluj-Napoca, Mrs. Raimonda Boian, who recommended as a financing solution the establishment by NGOs that have as object of activity services offered to the victims of domestic violence of some SRLs, whose profits to ensure financing of these services.

According to VIF, "the authorities wrongly dividing the community problems into" technical problems ", respectively those related to roads, buildings, garbage ramps, which deserve investments from the state budget and" social problems "- peripheral, optional".
This conception of the City Hall of Cluj-Napoca led to the termination of the services offered in the Shelter of the Association of Women Against Violence - ARTEMIS and causes that other such institutions are in danger of ceasing their activity.
